100th Day of School Fun!

We celebrated the 100th day of school last week! In case you didn't know, it's a pretty big deal in Kindergarten. Here are some of the highlights from our special day.

I introduced this poem to my class in the morning and we sang it throughout the day.

We completed two class books - What Could You Eat 100 Of? and Things We've Been Told 100 Times. The second one is definitely fun to read! You can find both class books in my TpT Store, one is FREE.

I started doing this Gumball Machine craft last year and I LOVE it. The kids have fun and they are great to display in the classroom. Last year I had my students use their fingerprints (and paint), and this year we used bingo markers.

During my students' lunch time, I hid 100 Hershey Kisses around the room. They each had a sticker on the bottom with a number 1-100. When students found a kiss, they brought it to the hundreds chart to match it with it's number.

For snack I mixed up a bunch of different small snack pieces. Then students filled a hundreds chart with their choice of snack pieces and got to eat it.

I LOVED this hundreds chart puzzle activity. It was a lot of prep beforehand, but I really liked how it turned out. It challenged my students but they had fun putting their own individual puzzles together.

I had each student bring in a collection of 100 small items. Then during Math time they sorted their collections into groups of 10, and groups of 5. LOTS of counting to 100!

The 100th day of school is bittersweet to me. It's so fun and the kids love it -I lost count of how many times I heard "This is the best day EVER." But it's also crazy and exhausting, and I'm glad it's over. Next up... Valentine's Day.

I'm Back {and a Freebie}

Oh, the life a a teacher blogger. I know we all go through our spurts of not having the time to blog... and that has been me recently. Our district has moved from iweb to blogger for our class websites, so in the fall I was determined to work on my class blog and make it a great resource for parents. I'm finally feeling like I can catch my breath a little (maybe because it's a long weekend) so I'm back to touch base on this blog. Do you use blogger as your class website? If so, I'd love you to include a link in a your comment so I can check it out!

Anyway, I'm making this short and sweet with the intention I'll be back soon. The 100th day of school is coming up! Next Friday for us, and we like to celebrate big in Kindergarten. I have created two class book products for my TpT store -- and one of them in a freebie! Click on the pictures to get to them!
